The iPad looks pretty neat. The concept is simple, you take an iPhone and scale it up to netbook size. 1.5 lbs, .5" thick, 9.7" screen size. All that extra size means you can give it a bigger battery, better CPU, all sorts of small upgrades. And then you can get unlimited 3G data access from AT&T for $30 / month with no contract, cool. Battery life is 10 hours, with a month of standby time. However, it's more expensive than any netbook, starting at $500 for a 16 GB Wi-fi only version and going to up $830 for a 64 GB 3G capable version.

However, it doesn't look as useful as a straight up 14" Thinkpad that costs $100 less and at 10" is too big to fit into even the gigantic cargo pockets on my ACUs, much less carry around in civilian clothes.
Oops?

So it has no practical use that isn't better covered by existing things. I'm half-convinced that Apple's stuff should be moved from the Electronics section of stores to Fashion Accessories.
